Roulette Inside bets

There are six types of inside bets, all based on the actual number that the ball lands on when the wheel stops spinning.

The Six Styles Of Placing Your Chips On The Numbers

1."Straight-Up"(En Plein): Putting your chips straight on a single number without the chips touching other numbers but the single one you want to bet on. A circle inside a square.

2. “Split” (Cheval): Placing a chip, or stack of chips to the value you wish to bet, across the line that splits two numbers adjacent either vertically or horizontally (as in 14-17 or 8-9). The chip is placed on the line between these numbers. A ‘| or – ‘shape is covered by the chip.

3. “Street” (En Rue): When a chip, or stack of chips to the value you wish to bet, is positioned to the right or the left of three horizontally adjacent and sequential numbers in a single line. A ‘|’ shape is covered by the chip.

4. “Corner (or square) (Carr)”: Placing a chip, or a stack of chips to the value you wish to bet, so that it quarters the crosshairs of four numbers in a square (as in 11-12-14-15). A ‘+’ shape over four numbers is covered by the chip.

5. “Six Line”(Sixainne): Placing your chip, or a stack of chips to the value you wish to bet, across two adjacent streets, with the chip placed at the corresponding intersection, so that the outside vertical line (left or right side depending on layout) and its horizontal line are covered. A ‘|- or -|’ shape over the sideline is covered by the chip.

6. “Trio”: Placing your chip so that the 0 is covered along its horizontal line and the two numbers above it 1 and 2 are also covered or similar positioning for the 00 and the 2 and 3 above it. An upside down ‘T’ shape over the three numbers, is covered by the chip.

Outside bets

Outside bets generally aren’t as specific as inside bets and so tend to have smaller payouts with better odds at winning.

The Six Positions Of Bets Placed On The Roulette and Online Roulette Layout

1. “1 to 18 (Manqué)”: the chip, or stack of chips to the value you wish to wager, is placed in the area marked 1-18 at the top left hand side of the cloth for a bet on one of the first low eighteen numbers coming up.

2. “19 to 36 (Passé)”: the chip, or stack of chips to the value you wish to wager, is placed in the area marked 19-36 at the bottom left hand side of the cloth for a bet on one of the last high eighteen numbers coming up.

3. “Red or Black (Rouge ou Noir)”: the chip, or stack of chips to the value you wish to wager, is placed in either of the boxes on the layout cloth, colored and labeled red or black for a bet on which color the roulette wheel will show when the ball has landed after the spin has finished.

4. “Even or Odd (Pair ou Impair)”: the chip, or stack of chips to the value you wish to wager, is placed in the box on the left of the cloth labeled odd - which is higher up above the ‘red’ (rouge), or even - which is lower down below the ‘black’ (noir), for a bet on an even or odd number.

5. “Dozen Bets (les Douzes)”: the chip, or stack of chips to the value you wish to wager, is placed in the longer boxes on the cloth close to the numbers labeled: 1st 12, 2nd 12 and 3rd 12 for a bet on the first (1-12) [Premiere Douze], middle (13-24) [Moyenne Douze], or last group (25-36) [Derniere Douze] of twelve numbers.

6. “Column Bets (les Colonnes)”: the chip, or stack of chips to the value you wish to wager, is placed on the space on the cloth below the final number at the bottom of any of the three columns for a bet on all of the 12 numbers (rising in multiples of 3) within any of those three vertical lines (such as 1-4-7-10 on down to 34).
