Roulette Strategies

Every gambler tries to engineer a sure fire winning method, their own patented guaranteed system to beat the table, a strategy that when finely tuned and developed through practice will deliver them a fortune. Lady Luck is hard to get in touch with sometimes and she can be fickle about how long she stays when she does deign to make an appearance.

It hasn’t happened yet. There have been attempts to manoeuvre odds in the players favour but most have involved some form of cheating.

Mechanical interference has been tried with biased wheel setting. Roulette wheels used to be man made and thus were imperfect. This imperfection if spotted through observation, many observations, could be exploited and indeed was successfully done in England by teams of USA gamblers in 1982. Also in 1986 it was successfully employed on an old wheel in the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City when $3.8million was won by a team headed by professional gambler Billy Walters. Alas, it is no more. An Englishman spoiled the fun by developing a wheel that countered the problem and since, there have been additional modifications to the ‘low profile’ wheel ensuring that the mechanical strategy has been rendered useless now.

Computer models like those developed by the Spaniard, Gonzalo Garcia-Pelayo or the use of scanners to predict the drop of the ball may have been successful and not been classed as criminal or illegal but their users cannot play anywhere in the world. In the 1970s the ‘Eudaemons’ used computers in their shoes to predict where the ball would fall.

Regular over the odds roulette playing winners are known and casinos have the right to refuse admission. Just like going to any club, security have the right to check you for weapons or illegal substances. Should they discover that you are carrying equipment they suspect might be detrimental to the house they can refuse your admission. Mathematically there are fans of Fibonacci (number patterns and frequency), Martingale (progression betting and double ups), La Bouchere (like Martingale but more flexible) and D’Alembert (pyramid system based on mathematical equilibrium) as well as those who swear by the dozen bet (progressive increments on the dozen’s appearance) or the 1st and 3rd column (break-even play safe) roulette strategies.

It’s up to you which strategy you think would work for you but be prepared to do a lot of calculations and remember all the deviations and variations which have to be considered in your chosen strategy.

With television screens, plasma or LED, almost the size of many cinema screens now, and many people do have home cinema systems, it might be fun to play online roulette as if you and your friends were in an actual casino.
